Distances

Golf club distance calculator

Every useful bag analysis starts with one thing: honest carry distances. Not your best-ever shot — the distance you can rely on.

Why carry distance matters more than total distance

Total distance depends on fairway firmness, wind and slope. Carry distance — how far the ball flies in the air — is the number you control. When you know the carry of every club, you can spot the gaps where no club in your bag is the right choice.

How to find your real carry distances

  • Launch monitor session. The most accurate option. Hit 5–10 balls per club and use the median carry, not the longest.
  • On the range. Note which landing zone your well-struck shots finish in, and discount the occasional flyer.
  • On the course. GPS apps and shot tracking give you real-world numbers under real pressure.

What to do with your numbers

Once you have a carry number for each club, the GolfBag optimizer calculates every gap between adjacent clubs, flags overlaps, and suggests what could fill the holes — based purely on your own distances.
